Photography is both a technical and artistic medium. Technically, I strive for perfection in my images; however, a superior image is one that is not only technically flawless, but artistically superb. It is the artistic challenge of the medium that most excites me.Professionally, I am trained as an engineer. Structures must be functional, affordable and efficient, yet engineering still produces fine beautiful structures. It is no different in photography. It is the perfect medium for the engineer and the artist in me.
My photographic work concentrates on nature, landscapes, and wildlife. I enjoy the challenge of finding unique images in nature. Wildlife photography requires patience, the right moment, and perfect lighting. It’s a thrill when it all comes together.
I use digital capture and film techniques in my work. I print my own work, using the computer equivalents of all my old darkroom techniques combined with modern methods. I believe that it is essential that the photographer control the entire creative process from the field to the final print.
